LdV Partnership Project Education Schemes as an Integration Tool A European Comparison (ESIT)

IBD Partnership has decided to analyse and present EU Welcome project in Southampton and Gateway to Portsmouth (In-Thuse project in Portsmouth) as the partnership project s examples.

EU Welcome project in Southampton began in 2004 as a joint initiative between Southampton City Council s New Communities Team and The City Centre Catholic Parish of Southampton. The aim was to give support to migrant workers from the new countries of the European Union, to aid integration and to provide good quality information.

Gateway to Portsmouth is a project together with Portsmouth City Council with the EU grant for women from third world countries. The project started in 2013. The aim of the project is the integration of migrant communities by providing training and learning opportunities to develop Volunteer Community Advocates and by improving links with Health, Education and Employment support.
