Association for the Development of Citizen and European Initiatives (ADICE)

1/ Presentation of the Organization:

The ADICE was created in 1999 in Roubaix. Its action is to promote the career of people who meet difficulties (professional difficulties, social, and integration difficulties) through international mobility. Mobility is seen as an alternative way (compared to formal education, school education, for example) to develop personal, social and professional, all mobilized in the personal and professional life.
Located in Roubaix (town in the region Nord Pas de Calais where the unemployment rate is one of the highest in France), ADICE is an association which follow a very large number of participants including many people with foreign origins (High number of inhabitants arrived through Migration flows in the area around Roubaix) to accompany them to realize mobility projects.

- Objectives: The action ADICE aims to promote equal opportunities and the fight against discrimination. For this, the ADICE developing a number of projects open to the public meeting social and professional difficulties.

2/ Support for professional mobility for people from immigration:

The Association for the Development of Citizen and European Initiatives (ADICE) is firmly enshrined in the interest of promoting social and professional capacities especially for those with fewer opportunities, unemployed long-term people, beneficiaries of social minima, people from districts or territories socially or geographically isolated, immigrants. Among all these people, some of them are discriminated because of their social and professional status, their origins...

ADICE considers mobility as a tool to fight against discrimination. Indeed, mobility allows these people to enhance their career, to give them new professional and personal skills (autonomy, self-confidence, awareness...).

The projects proposed by ADICE are a lever which aims to provide to the public an opportunity to use the skills and knowledge acquired during their personal and professional stories and to give them the means to access easier to a stable and sustainable employment. Mobility projects proposed by ADICE require no qualifications, no diploma, no particular level of language. Anyone can participate.

To ensure this coherence, ADICE established over time and experience a pedagogical scheme, which is the same for everyone and that each participant must follow. This pedagogical scheme is currently being restructured to be more coherent with the expectations of participants who are diversified. Here is the educational scheme divided in several steps: Information on the activities and programs; Identification of the participants (career explanations, expectations), definition of the application and construction of the project (research of a project, a host structure ...), validation of the project (formalizing the mobility project by ADICE and the participant), pre-departure meetings (administrative and pedagogical preparation), monitoring during the mobility project and finally assessment of the project. Since ADICE working with people with different profiles and aspirations, the association offers different types of mobility projects: introduction to mobility (mobility projects from one to three months in social structures in Europe), commitment and professionalization (mobility projects for periods from three months to one year in associative structures, businesses and institutions in Europe and in the world). For such projects, the ADICE accounts on the deployment of its network in Europe and the world to find ever more opportunities for people experiencing difficulties including problems of discrimination. The ADICE therefore wishes to develop the territorial coordination (meetings, forums, meetings...) especially at the local level to promote the visibility and the accessibility of such projects for a large number of people and to facilitate the integration of everyone.
